Source: unofficial translation of an article found at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.romfea.gr\/\">www.romfea.gr<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Holy Synod discussed this problem in depth, and unanimously decided with regret, to sever the commemoration of His Beatitude Patriarch of Romania, Daniel and defrock the representative of the Romanian Orthodox Church in Jerusalem, Archimandrite Ieronim Cretu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The reasons for the taking of such a decision is the building in the last decade of a church at the hostel for Romanian pilgrims in Jericho, and this without the approval of the canonical Orthodox Church of Jerusalem, the jurisdiction under which all Orthodox Churches in the Holy Land exist.&nbsp; Since the decision to build was made unilaterally by the Romanian Orthodox Church, this was done in contradiction with the decisions of the Ecumenical Synods and without the permission of the Local Synod.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Patriarchate of Jerusalem explains that if it were to agree with the Romanian Orthodox Church\u2019s view that the Jericho church was built for Romanian pilgrims to the Holy Land, then this would transform the jurisdiction of Jerusalem into an open field for any and all Orthodox churches to build their own churches on Jerusalem\u2019s territory [and administrative chaos would result].<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">[The Patriarch of Jerusalem notified the Patriarch of Romania of His unhappiness regarding the present situation.&nbsp; In response, the Patriarch of Romania sent Bishop Ciprian Campineanul to Jerusalem, but to no avail&#8230; on the contrary&#8230;]&nbsp; His message was not one of canonical reconciliation and the maintaining of unity in Christ, but only useless and weak arguments to maintain the status quo.
